Lesley Heathcote

My art is inspired by the beauty, intelligence and grace of animals, birds and the natural world.  After many years as an oil painter, I discovered the medium of soft pastel which allows me to combine my love of painting and drawing.  Through careful observation and close attention to detail, I work to convey the spirit of the animal, bird or place.  I use photographs I have taken as reference, making changes to enhance the poetry and emotion I feel.
