The following is a list of recent, current and upcoming happenings for Brattleboro-West Arts members. Check out the artists' profile pages for more information about them, as well as links to their own websites, where applicable.

Solstice and Seconds Sale with Slowinski — Dec. 17

Walter Slowinski will be hosting the 5th Annual Orchard Street Pottery Solstice and Seconds Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17th, at his studio and showroom at 658 Orchard St., Brattleboro. In addition to his salt-glazed, wood-fired, functional stoneware and porcelain, he will also be selling his acrylic and encaustic paintings and honey he produced. Prices are reduced on all items, from 10% to as much as 50% for this one day only. Slowinski’s studio and showroom are in a classic old barn just 2 miles from downtown.

MGFA Winter Group exhibit — through Jan. 29

Photographer Gene Parulis is among the new artists featured in the Winter Group exhibit at Mitchell-Giddings Fine Arts gallery through Jan. 29.

The other new artists in the show: Eric Boyer, Anne Johnstone and Torin Porter

The exhibit also will feature current work by the gallery’s ongoing artists, including BWA members Jackie Abrams, Josh Bernbaum and Karen Kamenetzky.

An artist forum will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the gallery, which is owned by BWA members Petria Mitchell and Jim Giddings. It is at 183 Main St. in Brattleboro.

Parulis photos in two other galleries — Dec. and ongoing

In addition to the Mitchell-Giddings Fine Arts gallery show above, photos by Gene Parulis hang as part of the annual Members Show through December at the Vermont Center for Photography in Brattleboro and on an ongoing basis in the Gallery at the Vault in Springfield, Vt.

Lindenfeld in Putney School faculty show — through Jan. 14

Naomi Lindenfeld has her work in The Putney School Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition, which continues through Jan. 14 in the gallery at the school’s Michael S. Currier Center. This show features Lindenfeld’s pieces that stemmed from her 2015 exhibit at The Brattleboro Museum and Art Center of work inspired by her mother’s textiles.

Abrams: New Variations in Basketry — through Jan. 14

Jackie Abrams has pieces in a show titled New Variations in Basketry that runs through Jan. 14 at the Snyderman - Works Galleries in Philadelphia.

Lloyd’s paintings at Vermont Woods Studios — ongoing

Acrylic paintings of Stephen Lloyd are currently being exhibited at Vermont Woods Studios at 538 Huckle Hill Road in Vernon, Vt.

New Year’s Eve with Butterfly Swing and BWA — Dec. 31

Walter Slowinski will be playing hot and sweet tunes from the 1920s with the Butterfly Swing Band from 7 to 10 p.m. New Year's Eve at the New England House restaurant, 254 Marlboro Road in West Brattleboro. Art works by BWA members Slowinski, Jen Wiechers and Gene Parulis are currently being exhibited at the restaurant and will be on view during the show. Come join the party!

BWA member exhibit at River Garden — Jan. 4-31

During the month of January, nine members of Brattleboro-West Arts will gather to display their work at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden at 157 Main St. in Brattleboro.

Conceived at the suggestion of Orly Munzing, the founder of the Strolling of the Heifers organization, the show will feature paintings in gouache, acrylic and oil; photographs; hooked and braided wall hangings; and large-scale prints. New BWA member Kay Curtis will be showing with the group for the first time. The work of the following artists will also be included: Ron Karpius, Stephen Lloyd, Kris McDermet, Sharon Myers, Gene Parulis, Janet Picard, Walter Slowinski, and Jen Wiechers.

Plaited and Folded Baskets workshop — Jan. 14-15

Jackie Abrams will teach a two-day workshop called Plaited and folded baskets Jan. 14-15 (snow date: Jan. 21-22) at Snow Farm in Williamsburg, Mass. For details and to register visit www.snowfarm.org

Brattleboro-West Arts is a group of about three dozen artists who create their art and make their homes within the watershed of the Whetstone Brook. Members represent disciplines as diverse as violin making, glassblowing, textile art, metalworking, stone sculpture, painting, pottery, basket making, woodworking and jewelry.
